Bowel Incontinence

Faecal Incontinence - The sudden urge to go and the inability to control bowel movements, resulting in soiling one’s self with either light leakage or full void before making it to a toilet.

Constipation - When the body holds onto faecal matter (generally 3 bowel movements or less per week), it becomes hard, dry and difficult to pass. Hemorrhoids, anal fissures, faecal impaction and rectocele (Rectum prolapse) can be complications of chronic constipation.

Childhood Pelvic Disorders

Encopresis- Children and youth’s may experience soiling themselves by small amounts of stool leaking or a full bowel movement within their clothing or on their person.

This can be caused by chronic constipation or the child withholding the stool for whatever reason. The faecal matter then becomes dry, firm and harder to pass which can make the child less inclined to go to the bathroom. The longer it is left, the more difficult it is to eliminate from their colon.
